Performance Review
Treadwear
The symmetric tread pattern is paired up with variable pitch tread blocks, jointless bead bundles, and a two-ply polyester cord body that operate to eliminate much of the highway sound and harmonics you find from different road surfaces.
Within the tread, dual steel belts are spirally wrapped with nylon for extra sturdiness and endurance. The tread composite further assists in reducing heat buildup and distortion. They provide even tread wear and longer tread life.
Dry Performance
Dry performance on the Kumho Road Venture AT51 is excellent. Dry traction rated high, while cornering stability was rated slightly under this. Steering response is top-rated as well.
Wet Performance
As far as wet performance goes, the Kumho Road Venture AT51 fairs pretty well against similar tire models. It has higher marks with hydroplaning resistance and wet traction.
Snow Performance
Light snow traction on the Kumho Road Venture AT51 is decent. While deep snow traction is not as good as light snow traction, it still performs quite well. Ice traction took a bit of a hitter, falling behind a few points. But overall, on ice, it can still perform better than many other tires on the market. One customer, who lives in a city that receives lots of snow every day, stated that he has driven through several feet of snow with these Kumho tires and feels that they are worth every penny. Another customer said that these tires are great handlers on snow-covered roads. He is on his second set and loves them.
Off-Road Performance
One customer bought the Kumho Road Venture AT51 tires for his son’s car. He was not only impressed with their looks but also stated how well they ride in various conditions. Off-road performance fared very well too. It scored decent in driving in dirt and rock, but slightly lower in the sand. Mud scored the lowest but still had an average rating. One customer was impressed with how balanced these tires are. They do just as good in the rain and snow as they do in dry conditions.
Comfort
The Kumho Road Venture AT51 has good comfort when on the road. Many customers feel that ride quality is high, while noise falls just shortly underneath the riding comfort.
One customer stated that they were very happy with the noise levels as they were much quieter than the previous tire they have on their vehicle. This same driver said they had the tires on their car for 8 months and are impressed with ice and snow traction.

Positive Kumho Road Venture AT51 Reviews
"Drove from Las Vegas, NV to Mammoth Mountain, CA, these tires held up very well. There was rain, sleet, snow and sometimes blinding snow all through out the Sierrra Nevada mountain range. The route was US 95, SR 266, US 6 and the US 395 to Mammoth. This drive is harrowing because in some areas there is no cell coverage for many miles and there are no services too, if you break or have an accident, your on your own, I brought chains just in case, the Kumhos AT 51 impressed me, felt like i was driving on a dry road throughout the whole trip. In my opinion, for the price, the tires are well worth the purchase, you get an aggressive looking tire with all the perks of an expensive all terrain tire. The driving test on Mammoth Mountain was also impressive, chains required, did not install. Again, the tires felt like i was driving on a dry surface. Passed my snow test with flying colors."

"This is the second set of these tires I have purchased for my vehicles, was very satisfied with the first set. When my next vehicle needed tires, the choice was obvious. What I like best about these tires is the traction, while not being an overly aggressive tread pattern, providing a good balance between winter and daily driving."

"I drive 35 minutes to and from work on mostly back country roads. We also have an 25 ft. travel trailer and do a lot of highway miles. The tread on these tires became loud and uneven within a year. The wear was noticed by my mechanic within the first year. He and I have tried many things to try and keep the wear down, but have failed. These tires were terrible for the money spent. I would not recommend."
